Medicare Fall Enrollment: Review Your Coverage

As we approach Medicare’s annual fall enrollment period—running from October 15 through December 7—it's an important opportunity to ensure your health coverage truly fits your needs for the coming year. This isn’t just about checking a box; it’s about aligning your plan with your doctors, prescriptions, preferred pharmacies, and even your travel or relocation plans.

For those planning ahead, note that in 2026, the Part D out-of-pocket maximum will be capped at $2,100 (with an estimated $2,400 for 2027), while Medicare Advantage plans can carry annual maximums up to $9,250. Be on the lookout for your annual notice in late Q3—it details any changes in costs, benefits, networks, or plan availability, all of which can impact your bottom line and your health options.

If you’re already enrolled in Medicare Advantage, you also have from January 1 to March 31 to switch plans or return to Original Medicare. Free counseling is available to help you sort through your options.

With decades spent guiding clients through these complex decisions, I’ve learned that thoughtful Medicare planning is a cornerstone of long-term financial security. Taking the time to review your coverage each year can help protect your assets and ensure your healthcare is there when you need it.
